I met this guy about three years ago. When I lived in Edmonton I belonged to the Edmonton Linux Users Group (ELUG) and we would have a "pre-meeting" brew or two at the Windsor Pub over by the University of Alberta. Renderman showed up at one of the the meetings and right from the start I liked the guy - as different as he was from the regulars - dressed like a secret agent or something. After a couple of beers we're yakking away and he reaches into his laptop bag and pulls out - get ready - a "Cat5 of Nine Tails" - yup, a homemade whip made from nine lengths of Cat5 networking cable with a handle in duct tape. He said it was his favourite network administrator's tool. Yup!

Anyhow, welcome to Alberta Dr. George Zahariadis. Edmonton is a fine city and because of the booming economy the facilities are first class. Hope you like it. Research of any sort is a good thing for the most part. Medical research is for sure a good thing.

I found two. They were in a hippy rock shop and I traded a few faceted semi-precious stones for the two meteorites and a trilobite. They're cool.

And I always thought eating Smarties made you smarter - at least it works for me. Smarties are one of my favourite "brain foods". If Nestlé: were to make good on it's claim it would require Smarties 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) in diameter. I think Nestlé should make good on their claim!

One visit to Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island and you would instantly agree that the idea of taking out a few trees for a parking lot is utter lunacy. There's something in the water in Victoria - raw sewage more than likely - that makes BC politicians the nuttiest of all politicians in Canada. BC is a beautiful place to live but the politics and bureaucracy will drive you to the top of the tallest tree in Cathedral Grove.

There are still hundreds of Mayan sites that have yet to be excavated in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.

Ancient Mezoamerican culture is something that really fascinates me. It's something I know a lot about for a layman. That's why you should check out the Stop Fortis website. Fortis is an embarrassment to Canada.

It's always heartening when someone with more money than they could ever hope to spend decides that they should give some back to those that helped them out.

Setting emotion aside - banning handguns will have zero effect on gunshot deaths. How about a zero tolerance for drug dealers and street gangs? That's not going to work either. If someone feels so wronged that they're going to resort to murder to rectify the situation then the lack of an available handgun is not going to stop them. I suppose that's why the steak knife is still the weapon of choice for the domestic dispute that culminates in a death.

It can't be that much of a trade up from used Ski-Doo to igloo. I would say he's at least three quarters of the way there.
