This is a directory of sign shops with what I see as a professional presence on the internet. Many of the links have been gathered from many hours of reading through the posts on the Letterville BullBoard while many others were found through SignCraft Magazine. Top Notch Sign Shops
- Abracadabra Signs & Designs
- These guys are heavy into sculptured signs and it looks like they package some kind of expoy sculpting material suitable for sign manufacturing. They are located in Ayr, Ontario, Canada.
- AK Signs
- Some really nice and innovative sign work can be found here using unusual materials. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
- Banff Sign Company
- Big in the handcrafted sign department. They also run a weekend course on hand carved western red cedar and gold gilded signs. I took the course and feel it was well worth it. They are located in Banff, Alberta, Canada and their signs are prominent throughout Banff National Park.
- Bernhardt Sign Company
- Big in the handcrafted sign department. This includes carved wood signs, gold gilding on glass, pub mirrors. and traditional sign writing with beautiful layouts. They have a link on their site indicating they do workshops but when you click the link it says, "Next workshop 2005." I suppose if you were to contact them they might have something more current. They are located in Stittsville, Ontario, Canada.
- Big City Signs
- These guys look like a full service, custom sign shop. It appears these guys aren't afraid to tackle anything. Located in Murieta, California, USA.
- Big Top Sign Arts
- A traditional sign painter with a nice portfolio of classic sign painting and gold gilded glass work. Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
- Blue Grass Design
- A huge portfolio of some beautiful sign work. The site is very well done and really enhances the overall quality of the signs and designs. I really like the "Before and After" gallery but they're all excellent. Well worth checking out. Located in Winchester, Kentucky, USA.
- Bohl Iron Works
- From what I can gather this is an artistic welder that understands signs. Located in Jamestown, North Dakota, USA.
- Borges Hand Lettering & Design
- Not a sign shop as such but the designs here are very well executed. Located in Snohomish, Washington, USA.
- Brian the Brush - British Guy
- Another sign shop not afraid to tackle anything. Their website could use a bit of a makeover to get rid of the animated gifs and things like that but otherwise it looks like they know what they're doing. Located in Odsal, UK.
- Brian the Brush - American Guy
- Biker, hot rod, pinstriping, custom paint type sign guy. Located in Adam's Basin, New York, USA.
- Brushfire Signs
- A full service sign shop that looks like they'll take on some pretty demanding jobs. Some very well laid out signs very well executed. I really like their tagline, "A rare medium well done." Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
- Bucks Signs
- Arthur Vanson is a true craftsman. His designs and layouts are expertly executed combining traditional sign writing skills with modern technlogy. Arthur is also a type designer with more than few fonts available on the ever popular Letterheads Font site. Located in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK.
- Butler Design
- David Butler is a top notch sign designer and creator of the highly acclaimed "Butler Gold Clipart Collection". Located in Syracuse, Indiana, USA.
- Brant Signs
- Looks like they specialize in carved wood signs though the designs are pretty basic. I've included them here because their website shows that they understand how to market their product on the web. Located in Wakefield, Quebec, Canada.
- Carl Thomas Chesick - Sign Carver
- Carved wooden signs - decent layouts done right. Located in Asheville, North Carolina, USA.
- Carved Graphics
- Carved wooden signs. Nice layouts on the artsy side. Located in Benicia, California, USA.
- Cedar Works Carved Cedar Signs
- A wholesale shop catering to the sign trade. Located in Plattsville, Ontario, Canada.
- Checkers Custom Signs
- A full service sign shop that looks like they do a bit of everything. There website is nice and clean. Located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA.
- Chicagold Sign Company
- Traditional gold gilded transoms and doors. Some really nice stuff here. Located in Elmwood Park, Illinois, USA.
- Classic Design Studio
- True craftsmanship from Noel Weber. Impeccable design, layout, and production. It doesn't get much better than this folks! Located in Boise, Idaho, USA.
- Coffey Advertising
- Authentic reproductions of cowboy sign art. Looks like the designs are well researched and appropriately "aged" with care and attention. Located in Mabank, Texas, USA.
- Colorado Dimensional Signs
- From down under a quality sign shop doing some truly inspirational dimensional signs. Beautiful layouts and lots of gold leaf. Things I really like to see. Located in Sydney, Australia.
- Compendium Arts
- Historically accurate period pieces including real good looking illuminated signs. Located in Denver, Colorado, USA.
- Custom Glass Signs & Mirrors
- Some really nice gold gilded, painted and etched glass signage. Located somewhere in south eastern California, USA.
- Custom Made Doodads - Montana Metal Works & Signs
- The website could use a bit of a makeover - the dark blue text on a bright blue background makes for some challenging reading - but otherwise there's some interesting signs and ranch gates to be found here. Located in Sun Prairie, Montana, USA.
- Dakota Mill Signs
- Hand crafted carved signs. Some of the signs have nice pictorials. Located in Kilbride, Ontario, Canada.
- Danthonia Designs
- Award winning carved wooden signs for the most part. Some real decent logo designs as well. Overall a pretty classy website. Located at the Danthonia Community near Invernell, NSW, Australia.
- David Design
- A combination of hand lettering and state of the art technology makes for some nice signs. Well designed logos as well. Located in Bryan, Ohio, USA.
- Deaton Design
- Award winning sign designs and artwork from an active Letterhead. John Deaton is well known to anyone who reads SignCraft Magazine. Very cool cartoon work as well and it's available from John as clipart. Located in Harlan, Kentucky, USA.
- Diaz Sign Art
- This is a high end, full service sign shop. The website is well done and easy to navigate. Located in Pontiac, Illinois, USA.
- Draper the Signmaker
- Looks like Draper has fun making signs. Nice website layout. Located in Bloomington, Illinois, USA.
- England Signs
- Basic designs but they appear to be well executed. Decent website layout. Located in Evesham, Worcestershire, UK.
- Enseignes Au Bois d'Or
- Some very high end sign work from this shop. Lots of carved and gold leaf work. The site is in French but don't let that stop you from checking out the incredible sign work. Located in Sainte Agathe des Monts, Quebec, Canada.
- Evergreen Signs
- A full service sign shop that looks like they know how to do wall art (murals) as well as more traditional signage. Located in Evergreen, Colorado, USA.
- Eye Bright Murals
- Traditional pub signs with well done pictorials. Located in Worthing, West Sussex, UK.
- Frank Smith Signs
- A full service sign shop that does everything from hand carved / gold gilded signage to basketball floors to calligraphy. Located in Albany, New York, USA.
- Freeman Sign Company
- A nice looking website. Classic carved and gold gilded sign work. Located in Cape Neddick, Maine, USA.
- Gary T. Mann - Sign Painter
- A full service sign shop. Decent layouts and sign designs. Located somewhere in the Los Angeles area of California, USA.
- Gerhart Studios
- A first class sign carver and sculptor. Their gallery includes a good selection of hand carved, gold gilded signs Located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA.
- Glass Graphics
- Some real eye-catching painted glass pieces with the method described in detail. Arthur Vanson is also the proprietor of Bucks Signs and the designer of some very popular Letterhead fonts. Located in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK.
- Golden Era Studios
- This is the home of Mike Jackson's highly acclaimed clipart site. Many sign shops swear by the Golden Era Clipart Collections. Located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA.
- Graphi-Bois Inc.
- Hand carved, gold gilded wooden signs. Also sand-blasted and sculpted wooden signs. Located in St-Jérôme, Quebec, Canada.
- Graphic D Signs - Dan Antonelli
- Dan Antonelli is a respected graphic designer that understands corporate branding and how signs are a big part of it. Very professional web presence here folks - check it out! Located in Washington, New Jersey, USA.
- Great Prescott Sign & Art Company
- Really well done carved wooden signs. The layouts are appealing and the designs are well thought out. Located in Prescott, Arizona, USA.
- Hannaman Sign Crafters
- Hand carved, gold gilded wooden signs. Some nice pictorials on the signs as well. Located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA.
- Happy Ad Sign & Design
- Marty Happy - love that name - has been in the sign and design business since 1974. This talented signmaker has had his work featured in "Sign Business" magazine including "The Overall Best Sign of 2003". Located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and "On the Road" with his mobile sign shop.
- Hassan Sign
- A beautiful selection of signs from an award winning sign shop. Two of their signs have graced the front page of SignCraft Magazine so that should say something about the talent. Located in Cohasset, Massachusetts, USA.
- Image In
- A full service sign shop with some real design expertise. The CorelDraw renderings of the signs on their website are absolutely amazing and are apparently done without the aid of any 3D software - that makes them even MORE amazing. Some of the sign brackets are truly inspiring. Located in Québec City, Québec, Canada.
- Imperium Design
- These guys do a lot of work for the television and movie industry and create some truly wonderful things - as well as signs. The website makes heavy use of Flash and is a bit slow to load but well worth a tour. This looks like it would be a real fun place to work. Located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
- Jaguar Design
- This is a shameless plug for my own sign business. We're just getting going (Fall 2009) and so far there seems to be a genuine interest in dimensional signs around here. Basically I'm a sign designer/graphic artist but I do like to get out in the shop and make signs too. Sometimes the wife insists I get out there and help her make signs! Located in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
- Joey Madden's Pinstriping Site
- Joey's a master pinstriper and if you're the least bit interested in this specialized type of signage then you should check out this site. Lots of really good information here. Located somewhere around Eugene, Oregon, USA.
- Johnny Signs
- Signs of all kinds including carved and gold gilded tradional signs. Located in Bedford, Indiana, USA.
- Keene Signworx
- A very professional website with an extensive portfolio. The award winning signs are truly inspiring and a feast for the eyes. They're also into handcrafted wooden boats and handcrafted beer. That's my kind of sign company! Located in Keene, New Hampshire, USA.
- Kelly Sign Company
- A full service sign shop that does some real nice signs. Their site is being redone but they have a few examples on their existing site that are well worth a look. Located in Weston, Ontario, Canada.
- Kukstis Woodcarving
- Hand carved and gold gilded signs as well as carved folk art. It takes a bit of hunting to get to the samples but well worth the effort. Located in Scituate Harbor, Massachusetts, USA.
- Kurtzman Sign Shop
- A full service sign shop with lots of examples of fine craftsmanship on their website. Some nice pictorials on some of the signs. Located in Norwalk, Conneticut, USA.
- Les Arts Numériques
- A full service sign and design shop. Their portfolio on this site shows some real classy sign and design work. Well worth checking out even if you don't understand French. Located in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
- Legendary Sign Works
- Some real classy signs produced by these guys. Everything from monument signs to glue chipped glass. Nice website and easy to navigate. Located in Mindemoya, Ontario, Canada.
- Letterhead Sign Supply
- This is a sign shop supply company and I've included them here because they have some really hard to find products required for advanced sign production techniques. Not only that but they're owned and operated by experienced sign professionals. They also have some links to featured sign shops that are well worth checking out. Located in Petaluma, California, USA.
- Luminite Signs
- A full service sign shop. Looks like they'll tackle just about anything. Located in Wilsonville, Oregon, USA
- Maine Line Graphics
- Another full service sign shop. Nice website, easy to navigate and their portfolio gallery works good. Located in Deering, New Hampshire, USA.
- Mark Z Signs
- Some nice looking designs in the portfolio gallery. Decent layouts and eye-catching design. Located in Owings, Maryland, USA.
- Mildred's House of Signage
- Not a sign shop but it just had to be included here. Tons of crazy signs with some witty comments thrown in. There's some real classics here and most of them are from the Chicago area. If you like signs you'll love this site.
- Miller Signs & Graphics
- Specializing in hand carved wooden signs. They only show a few examples on their website but it's obvious they know what they're doing. Located in Newport, Maine, USA.
- Minton Productions
- Another full service sign shop. Looks like they'll take on most anything. Located in Greer, South Carolina, USA.
- Montauk Sign Carving Company
- Hand carved wooden signs. They say they've been carving signs for more than 30 years and the gallery of their work shows their experience. Check it out. Located in East Nassau, New York, USA.
- Murray's Signs
- A nice selection of finely crafted signs. This guy is a real professional. Located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
- National Signs
- A full service sign shop. Lots of big stuff. Check out their gallery for some good looking neon work. Located in Houston, Texas, USA.
- Norman Sign Company
- Some good looking signs in their portfolio gallery. Lots of big stuff. Located in Norman, Oklahoma, USA.
- Northeast Signs & Graphics
- Hand crafted signs in a multitude of materials. Some nice looking signs and some nice artwork in their companion "Little Bear Art Gallery. Located in Cos Cob, Connecticut, USA.
- Old Oak Shop
- Specializing in hand crafted carved signs. Located somewhere in north east Wisconsin, USA.
- Osborne Signs
- A traditional sign writer with a nice portfolio of some truly awesome sign work. Located in Midhurst, U.K.
- PJ Chmiel - Photos of Signs
- Not a sign shop but I just had to add it here as there are some real classics in this photo gallery of signage. PJ Chmiel has a graphic design background so I guess that's why he likes signs. He's from Chicago, Illinois, USA.
- René Giroux
- René does some real nice signs and is a regular on the Letterhead BullBoard. Nice looking website but it renders a bit weird on Firefox. Located in Gatineau, Québec, Canada.
- Riedel Sign Company
- A full service sign shop that looks like they're capable of taking on pretty much any job. They've been around since 1954 and their portfolio certainly demonstrates their experience. Located in Little Ferry, New Jersey, USA.
- Rod Tickle Signs
- Lots of airbrush work and very well done at that. Located in Loxton, South Australia.
- Royce Sign Works
- A sign shop specializing in gold leaf on glass, carved gold gilded signs, and corporate interiors. Some real classy signs in their portfolio gallery. Located in New York, New York, USA.
- Sawatzky's Imagination Corporation
- A truly unique sign shop. Dan and his crew design and fabricate some truly inspired dimensional signage. Dan is also a fixture on the Letterhead BullBoard. Located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.
- Shawcraft Sign Company
- Some really nice stuff in their portfolio galleries. There's some real good looking murals if you click the "Walldog events" link at the top. Located in Machesney Park, Illinois, USA.

- This website's a little different in that it's a blog. If you're the least bit interested in sign shops these folks give you a day to day summary of what it's all about. Located in Lincoln, New Hampshire, USA.
- Signs of Excellence
- Hand carved wooden signs. The portfolio gallery shows that Malcolm Wall has a good eye for appealing layout. Pretty nice stuff all around though he should give the website a makeover. Located in Tottenham, Ontario, Canada.
- Sign Works
- A full service graphic design and sign shop. Nice clean website that's relatively easy to navigate. Located in Springfield, Oregon, USA.
- Simply Not Ordinary Signs by Karyn Bush
- Karyn is a regular on the Letterhead BullBoard and works out of her home. Don't let that fool you though as she does some real top notch signage. Located in Intervale, New Hampshire, USA.
- Spring Valley Signs
- Lots and lots of really cool carved signs. This site is one you shouldn't miss! Located in Farmington, Pennsylvania, USA.
- Stevo Design
- Some über cool sign designs can be found here on Stevo Chartrand's website. Stevo is a regular on the Letterhead BullBoard. Located in Devon, Alberta, Canada.
- Studio Vargas
- This is the site of Francisco Vargas. He's good. Located in Fresno, California, USA.
- The Cranberry Sign Company
- This is the site of Jeff Siminoff. Lot's of well done hand carved, 3D signs. Jeff is also a fine artist and professional calligrapher. Located in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada.
- The Creative Individual
- Lots of really cool Trompe l'oeil murals, chalkboards and otherwise creative signage! Located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- The Sign Shop
- A sign shop specializing in hand crafted signs. Looks like they'll take on pretty much anything. Lots of carved signs. The owner is a regular on the Letterhead BullBoard. Located in the Mendocino area of California, USA.
- The Wooden Sign Company
- High end dimensional signage out of this shop. Very nice stuff! Located in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
- 3D Custom Foam
- Not a sign shop as such but these guys do movie sets, theme parks and some signage. Looks like everything is sculpted from EPS (Expanded PolyStyrene) foam. Some very cool stuff out of this shop. Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
- Tim Hobbs - Traditional Signwriter
- Some real nice sign writing on shop fronts, pubs, and boats. Located somewhere in Merry Ole England.
- Tom's Vintage Signs
- Real good looking "aged" signs. I love these kind of signs. Located in Ashland, Oregon, USA.
- Traditional Signs
- A full service sign shop. Some of the pinstriping on antique wheeled things is unbelievable. Ian Stewart-Koster is an active Letterhead and a fixture on the Letterhead BullBoard. Located in Nutgrove, Queensland, Australia.
- Village Signcraft
- Mostly dimensional signs of the carved and sandblasted variety but it looks like they take on the odd and unusual jobs from time to time. Located in Bloomville, Ohio, USA.
- Vintage Sign Company
- Very well done and authentic looking reproduction antique signs. There's some real classics here. Located in Woodsboro, Maryland, USA.
- Vital Signs & Graphics
- A full service sign shop. Some real nice logo designs. Located in Newaygo, Michigan, USA.

- A nice selection of gold guilded glass signs and antique reproductions. Located in Hayward, California, USA.
- Weathertop Custom Wood Signs
